Prepare for remote circulation
Remote circulation is a method of performing circulation tasks outside of Destiny. You can perform remote circulation using a Follett device with Follett Remote or on a computer with Follett Remote installed.
Install Follett Remote
To get Follett Remote, click the link for the operating system you are using:
Important: In Library Manager and Textbook Manager, you can only mark copies lost and manage fines and holds online, not offline or remotely. |
Before you begin to perform remote circulation
You must have:
- A Follett device with Follett Remote installed
- A workstation with Follett Remote installed
- Library Circulation Commands (Library Manager), Resource Circulation Commands (Resource Manager), Textbook Circulation Commands (Textbook Manager) or Media Circulation Commands (Media Manager)
- The guide for the Follett hardware device you are using to perform the remote circulation.
- Microsoft ActiveSync downloaded (
setup.msi
). - Printout of patron barcode labels report (this includes teachers).
Prepare a data file to upload to Destiny
After you perform remote circulation, you need to prepare the date file.
Example: You take a cart of books to a classroom. If students decide to check out resources on the cart, you can check out offline, and upload the checkouts to Destiny when you are back in the library. |
- On the Follett Remote device you are using, exit out of Follett Remote.
- Plug the device into a computer with Destiny on it. Microsoft ActiveSync opens.
- In Microsoft ActiveSync, click Explore. A Mobile Device pop-up lists all the files on the Follett device.
- Select the IPSM > Follett Remote directory.
- Find the circulation file you want to upload, such as
LibraryCirculation<yearmonthday>.txt
- Copy the circulation file, and paste it on your desktop.
You are now ready to upload the circulation file to Destiny.
