Patron Type

Enter a name for a Patron Type. You can enter up to 30 characters

Patron Types are classifications of patrons that let you set up different loan policies for different groups of patrons. Use Patron Types to:

  • Limit reports and notices.
  • Maintain more detailed circulation statistics.

You can create any number of Patron Types, such as Student Helper, Out-of-District Student or Volunteer Staff.

To change a patron's Type:

  1. Select Admin > Manage Patrons.
  2. Use the Find field and drop-down to enter your search criteria.
  3. Click Search. Patron information that matches your search appears.
  4. Next to the name of the patron you want to edit, click Edit.
  5. Under Site Information, use the Patron Type drop-down to select a different type.

You can also globally update Patron Types inAdmin> Update Patrons.

Destiny assigns the default Patron Type to a new patron record whenever you add or import one. Set your most common Patron Type as the default.
